Happy reading! | University of Sheffield in top 100 universities in QS World University Rankings | We have been named as one of the world’s top universities, according to the 22nd edition of the world’s most-consulted university rankings, reaffirming our place as a leading global university for teaching and research excellence. - The QS World University Rankings 2026 placed the University of Sheffield 92nd in the world and 15th in the UK.
- The University of Sheffield was also ranked within the top 100 universities in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings last year.

Sheffield was voted #1 for Best Students Union, and our Careers Service remains in the Top 10 in the country, based on ratings by verified students on StudentCrowd. | 2. At the AGCAS Awards for Excellence in Newcastle, our University won the Industry Partnerships Award for ‘Sheffield Policy Campus’ - the partnership between the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Civil Service. The judges commended the "incredible multi-year strategy, with societal impact beyond employability that fostered positive cross university collaboration throughout". Read all about it here. | 3. The University of Sheffield remains top of the Russell Group for the third year in a row in the National Student Survey. Sheffield’s Students’ Union has also been rated the best out of all UK universities for the second year in a row. Students gave the University of Sheffield the highest score in the Russell Group for learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, and student voice. Find out more here. | And the bookings are open! | 🍁Autumn Careers Fairs 🗓️21-23 October 2025 📍the Octagon Join our biggest careers event of the year, that spans across 3 days, and gathers over 150 employers and over 2000 students*. The Autumn Careers Fairs are the ideal place to promote your opportunities to students from all years and subjects, whether it be graduate jobs, year-long placements, short-term or summer internships, or part-time and vacation work. It is a great opportunity to build in-person connections with potential candidates in the world of AI-automated selection processes, and to spot genuine interest in your organisation.
Days 1 and 2 (Tuesday 21 - Wednesday 22 October) are for employers looking to recruit into Science, Technology and Engineering.
Day 3 (Thursday 23 October) is for employers who are interested in promoting opportunities to students from non-STEM subjects. This could be roles in Marketing and Communications, Finance, Law and Public Services, Education and Training, Creative Industries, Business and Management, Retail and Logistics, Languages and more.
*The 2024 Autumn Careers Fairs attracted over 2400 visitors over three days. This included over 1700 undergraduates and 500 postgraduate students. | Join us at The UK Clean Energy Summit 2025 | 🗓️11-12 September 2025 📍Magna, South Yorkshire As the UK government advances its mission to cement the nation’s position as a global clean energy superpower, we stand at a moment of real opportunity – not only to accelerate to net zero, but to turbocharge national and regional growth, create high-value jobs and drive investment. Hosted by the University of Sheffield, The UK Clean Energy Summit 2025 is a national event which will bring together leaders from industry, policy and academia to explore the role of ground-breaking research and development, industry innovation and effective government policy in achieving this ambition, and how we can maximise the power of collaboration to ensure we capitalise on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The two-day conference and exhibition will be held at Magna – a dedicated unique events space set in a former industrial steelworks in South Yorkshire , which is home to the UK’s largest clean-tech cluster. The summit is for: - Leaders from across the clean energy sector
- Businesses working in clean energy and related industries, from SMEs to global firms
- Representatives from clean energy sector bodies
- National and regional politicians, policymakers and decision-makers
- Academics in relevant research areas.
The event will be held over two days with a mix of plenary, keynotes and workshops as well as a chance to see our facilities. There will also be an exhibition with key businesses from the industry available for delegates, and the opportunity to network with the leaders in the field. | Mechanical Engineering Project Exhibition Day - an opportunity for Industry Partners | Twenty industry mentors attended the University in May to meet and interview third-year Mechanical Engineering (MEng) students who were showcasing their group design projects, having developed them since February. The Group Design Project is a cornerstone of the MEng programme, and provides talented students with invaluable, real-world design experience.
For industry partners, it is an unique opportunity to access fresh perspectives, identify future talent, explore prototyping, and play a vital role in shaping the next generation of mechanical engineers.
